JAMES Blake and Lindsay Davenport beat Barbora Strycova and Jiri Novak 6-3 6-2 for the United States to win the Hopman Cup tie against the Czech Republic 3-0 last night.

In the singles match, Blake, the world No37, managed the three-set win over the world No13 in borrowed clothes after his luggage was lost.

Blake teamed up with Serena Williams last summer and won three of his four singles matches, including a straight sets win over then world No1 Lleyton Hewitt, on the way to winning the eight-nation competition.

His win came after team-mate Lindsay Davenport opened her year with a 6-4 6-3 win over unheralded teenager Barbora Strycova.
